Welcoming TBF Cafe to the North Loop
Sunday was the Grand Opening of the highly anticipated "The Bachelor Farmer Cafe", also called "The Cafe" and I am oh-so-excited to welcome them. If you recall, I posted a sneak peak of their in-progress cafe a few weeks back so I was thrilled to see and experience the final result and it did not disappoint.
I instantly felt happy walking into this petite spot - what used to be Askov Finlayson, I barely recognised the space with the new renovations. Although it was one of the coldest days of the year, the sun was shining bright into this place through their massive arched windows which the sit up bar faces, I can't wait to bring my laptop and work here for the day.
Let's start with the design of this place. I wasn't expecting anything less than amazing but I especially loved the unique, bright tile work they have going - complimented by lots of white and dark matte wood, oh and I love the gold fixtures and accents sprinkled throughout.
I have a feeling this is where the "cool kids" of Minneapolis will be hanging out in the near future - you almost feel as if you should shop next door at Askov Finlayson FIRST, change into the items you just purchased and then swing over to the cafe in your best dressed "northern" style. (Which I'm sure is what they're going for). It makes a powerful statement and they pulled it off!
I love their menu - small and to the point, they are serving many light options that compliment a great cup of coffee. I sampled their newly developed "Dogwood North Loop Blend", it's a good staple. Their main beans are from Heart Coffee Roasters in Portland, I think I'll sample something fancier next time so the baristas can show off their skills in that froth - they are putting as much attention into their cafe beverages as the cocktails downstairs at Marvel, pretty cool. You can purchase both the North Loop Blend and Heart Coffee Roasters at the cafe too.
We tried a few of the open faced sandwiches, well done! They have a small array of open faced sandwiches, salads and light items, along with sweets of course... I will have to treat myself at some point and dig into those amazing baked goods; Remember the "Brunch Cart" from the Bachelor Farmer? The dessert cart they would roll around after you had finished eating? Well, it was retired from Bachelor Farmer but are now serving many of those same goodies at the cafe.
I was excited to see these guys already creating so much energy and excitement for the neighborhood, I will be back soon "Cafe".
