DayBlock 2nd year Anniversary

DayBlock 2nd year Anniversary

When we moved into the Mill District/Downtown East neighborhood, DayBlock was one of the first places we visited - it was fairly new to the neighborhood and it became one of our go-to watering holes and a favorite pizza joint. I can't believe they have been there 2 years already!

Of course, their 2 year anniversary party was a great excuse to swing in but I wanted to spread the word about the love I have for this place. Right now, they have their 2nd anniversary beer which is a Coconut Stout - Subtle coconut but strong in dark flavor, it's a must-try. They also have a great DIPA (double IPA) on tap right now. I also tried their Mocha Porter, which they also happened to add to their chocolate cake they were serving.... wishful thinking that they make that part of their menu because it was delicious! Franks Red is one of their staple beers that is a good fall back with great flavor too if you're feel like sitting somewhere in the middle.

I've always been a fan of their pizza here but they've introduced some new ones since I last visited. The Carolina BBQ is a long time favorite; sweet pulled BBQ pork topped with coleslaw and cilantro, it's like a sandwich! We also tried the Cordon Bleu pizza and man is it amazing! Thin sliced ham, swiss cheese and served with a side of pickles, on top of that light fluffy crust, it's to die for. For future reference, Taco Truck is an all-time favorite as well, cotija cheese and other various toppings layered with all those spices is a great combo with beer. You really can't go wrong with the pizza but we also tried their untraditional Vietnachos - kettle chips with lime, strips of steak, fried onion and a peanut sauce. I know, no-cheese nachos? I really didn't miss it that much, but they do pose a challenge trying to eat them.

This place is a chill hangout, they often have live bands, trivia and now "Gin and Jazz", a M-F happy hour and of course always good beer. Show some love for the Eastside of town!
